There was an increase in traffic accidents on the island for 2016; the announcement was made by the Traffic Branch Department of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.
The Department said there was an increase in the number of reported accidents in 2016 compared that of 2015.
Last year (2016) according to the Department report, there were 938 reported accidents, an upsurge from 845 recorded accidents in 2015.
From the 845 accidents recorded in 2015, 176 resulted in injuries, while 664 did not. In 2015 from the reported accidents 15 were fatal, and 25 persons died as a result.
In 2016 there were seven fatalities. From the 938 reported accidents, 180 resulted in injuries, while 751 did not.
