- Bahamas records first murder of 2024
The fatal stabbing in western New Providence is the first murder to be recorded in The Bahamas for the New Year 2024.
According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers apprehended a 26-year-old man on January 1, 2024, after he fatally stabbed a family member.
Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 5 am, the suspect and the 51-year-old victim were involved in an altercation at their home which escalated, resulting in the suspect producing a a knife and stabbing the victim multiple times about the body. The 51-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect was taken into police custody while at the residence.
Investigations are continuing.
