On the afternoon of December 29, 2025, a fire engulfed a section of the Questelles government school, destroying classrooms for Grades 3 and 4, the school auditorium, and the kitchen and feeding area.
In the aftermath of a public tragedy, BRAGSA’s CEO, Kem Bartholomew, set a bold and ambitious goal: the school would be completely rebuilt in just three months.
A preliminary assessment of the damage revealed a stark and telling contrast. While the modern timber roof was completely destroyed by the fire, the historic stone facade of the building remained largely unscathed and in good condition.
Initial site clearing is already underway to facilitate a more comprehensive engineering evaluation and final design phase.
The rebuilding effort aims to preserve the historic integrity of the site while ensuring the Ministry of Education can provide a secure environment for students.
These collaborative efforts prioritize a swift return to normalcy through an enhanced and safer learning space.
