Citizens United to light Arnos Vale Playing Field

2 Min Read

The Arnos Vale Playing Field,  the premier cricket stadium in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will soon benefit from another upgrade.

The stadium which was constructed in the early 1970s hosted its first ever international game in 1981.

In 2007, the facility benefited from a huge injection of capital for its redevelopment in order to host warm up games for the ICC Cricket World Cup hosted by the WestIndies that year.

However, ArnosVale is severely limited owing to the absence of lights.

With the growing prevalence of evening to night time sporting activities, the venue with all its state of the art amenities, cannot attract these events.

It had been suggested that the venue’s proximity to the ET Joshua Airport, served as a stumbling block for any initiative to install lights at the facility.

Since February 14, 2017, this is no longer the case.

The lighting of Arnos Vale is among the first projects that Citizen United or CU-SVG has sought to undertake.

Over the upcoming months, the group say they intend to embark on a massive campaign to mobilise all the necessary resources required to light the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

CU-SVG in a release noted that they will work with the government and other stakeholders to make this project a success.
