Tyson Woods a 29-year-old labourer from the community of Dauphine has been arrested and charged by the police at Calliaqua on a charge of theft.
Woods is accused of depriving James Questelles a shopkeeper of the same address with of the sum of $340.00 on December 27th, 2018.
Woods was escorted to the Serious Offences Court on Thursday, January 10th and pleaded guilty to the charge before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court.
The Court heard that on the date in question Woods along with a party of men were at the liquor and provision shop which is located at the basement of Questelles dwelling home at Dauphine playing cards.
Reports also indicate that Questelles had reason to use the bathroom but before doing so checked the cash that was in the draw.
Having returned he rechecked the cash in the drawer and discovered that the sum $340.00 was missing.
As a result, a report was made to the Calliaqua Police Station who made investigations and took Woods into custody.
When cautioned by the investigator Woods admitted to stealing the cash from the shop.
However, Crown Counsel Kareem Nelson made an application to the Chief Magistrate Brown to postpone sentencing to Friday, January 11th, 2019 in an effort to have Woods’ criminal record presented.
He was therefore remanded into custody until such time.
