The new EC$20 polymer banknotes are now available in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Scotia Bank were the first two banks to be issued with the new $20 polymer banknotes. The $20 joins the $50, which was issued in July.
The EC polymer notes are made from a thin, flexible and transparent plastic film. The notes are cleaner as they are more resistant to dirt and moisture; more secure as they are more difficult to counterfeit because polymer allows for the inclusion of advanced security features.
The notes are also stronger because they are much more durable than paper and are difficult to tear.
The EC polymer notes and the paper notes will co-circulate. Therefore, in conducting your business you may receive both the EC polymer and paper banknotes.
Additional information on the EC Polymer Notes can be obtained from the ECCB’s website.
