- St Vincent Nine Mornings Christmas Festival
Oronde Bomani Charles, chairman of the SVG National Nine Mornings event Management Committee, urges citizens should make the event their own.
Charles says that for over 100 years, Vincentians rose up early for nine days before Christmas to have fun for all ages. Nobody does this anywhere else, he said.
Citizens will also get the option to spin a Christmas wheel in the Nine Mornings Wake and Wheel from December 16 to 24 between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Nine lucky people will spin the wheel, and every turn wins.
Maxine Brown, Cultural Officer with the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development, and Culture, praised Vincentians for promoting and preserving this unique festival.
Brown thinks every Vincentian must respect and invest in Nine Mornings, even if only by believing in its essence, rich culture, and history.
She says the celebration attracts people from far and wide, so it’s crucial to document it for future generations.
Brown said culture can change lives, and Nine Mornings celebrates peace and love. She asked Vincentians to live in harmony and put down the guns and knives.
The festival is December 16–24.
