Increase In Fuel Surcharge Rate For January

1 Min Read

St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) is advising customers that the Fuel Surcharge Rate applicable on bills for the month of January 2017 is 30.71 cents per unit.

This month’s rate represents an increase of six cents over last month’s rate, which was 24.20 cents per unit.

The increase in the Fuel Surcharge is primarily because of the increase in fuel consumption for electricity generation.

Vinlec says the Richmond Power Station remains offline as a result of damages after the passage of the November Trough system and the South Rivers Station is undergoing rehabilitation work. Consequently, the hydro production last month was 8 %, compared to 17 % the previous month.

Vinlec is encouraging customers to continue to conserve energy since the final bill amount depends on how much energy is utilised.
