‘We never got food, only mixed messages’

Several irritated passengers who were expected to be in New York on Sunday evening via JetBlue flight 1640 from St Vincent said they were given mixed messages concerning the aircraft after it failed to leave on its scheduled time.

The flight left Argyle Airport at 11.41 on Monday morning and landed at JFK sometime around 4.20 p.m. this afternoon.

“First they said it was a technical issue, and they were waiting on paperwork. Then, 3 hours after being on the ground in the plane, they told us it was a mechanical problem, and then we had to get off the plane because we were on it too long.”

The passengers told St Vincent Times that they were told that another aircraft was sought; however, after several hours of waiting, that never materialised, and food was ordered but was never received.

“They said we were waiting for another plane from San Juan. After more time passed, they started taking orders from us for food, which we never received because they cancelled the flight.”

Another passenger told St Vincent Times, “Even this morning when they told us the flight would leave at 11 am, we had to wait another 45 minutes for the fuel truck.”

According to sources, passengers were placed in accommodations a short distance from the airport on Sunday night.

JetBlue’s desk at AIA did not comment on the matter, nor did the management of the airport.

The aircraft used on the route was an Airbus A320-232.
