The Embassy of the United Mexican States to the Eastern Caribbean States extends its sincere congratulations to the Government and the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on the occasion of its 40th Anniversary of Independence.
Mexico celebrates with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as the island nation enters into its 40th year of independence; a remarkable achievement which bears testimony of the commitment and perseverance of the Vincentian people in their pursuit of prosperity and progress.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in July 1990, between Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the countries have maintained strong bonds of friendship and solidarity, which has been evidenced over the years through close cooperation in areas such as education, infrastructure and agriculture
As an example of the aforementioned, special mention deserves the project of the bridge “Friendship Mexico-Saint Vincent and the Grenadines”, the longest bridge in the country, which was financed by Mexico in 2018 through the Infrastructure Fund for Mesoamerican and Caribbean Countries with a grant of 5 million USD. The major infrastructural components included the design and reconstruction of the main Cumberland Bridge and 3 small bridges and the repair or road and culverts upstream of the main bridge, as well as river embankment protection, which improves the vehicular connection across the island.
During 2019, Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines shared technical and scientific cooperation through seminars and courses on diverse topics, such as Trade Statistics, Ceremonial and Protocol, National Archives and Disasters Risk Management.
Mexico therefore reiterates its continued commitment to join efforts with the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines towards the strengthening of these bilateral relations, for the mutual benefit of both nations.
The Government of Mexico conveys best wishes for the continued success and wellbeing of the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
