A quantity of Items mainly 18 beds, adult diapers and 200 sheet sets were handed over to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital by the Hon. Sir Louis Straker, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce. The donation was made through the Consulate General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Toronto and the High Commission St. Vincent and the Grenadines, London on Thursday, 12th January 2017.
The Deputy Prime Minister in his remarks challenged the administration of the MCMH to ensure that these items are utilised properly. The Foreign Affairs minister expressed deep appreciation to those people who have contributed to the enhancement of the hospital. Minister Straker stressed that he is extremely happy with what the work heads of missions have been doing so far.
Fitzgerald Huggins, Consul General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Toronto said he recognised his job as Consul General as making his country a better one. Addressing the gathering, Huggins said he has made the hospital and fire services here his passion and plans to continue this work.
Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Hon. Luke Browne said his ministry is grateful for this act of generosity and commended the work of the Minister of Foreign affairs, Consul General Huggins and this country’s high commission in London; for their contribution towards boosting the health sector here. Minister Browne emphasised that this is an example of foreign policy at work.
The beds will be utilised to outfit the newly refurbished female surgical ward which was contributed by Rosalind King John in memory of her mother Veryl King of Biabou.
