School children, who are often left stranded or wait for long hours to get transportation to travel to and from school, will soon get some relief.
This is so, as the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is to purchase some more school buses to address the transportation needs of students throughout the country.
Speaking on the issue via telephone on WEFM on Tuesday October 18th 2016, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said EC 800,000 has been sourced from the government of Taiwan.
Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said that “while the government does not want to get involved in the business of running businesses”, something must be done for the children.
There is also commitment to have more students from St. Vincent and the Grenadines studying in Taiwan.
Dr. Gonsalves said that for this year, 17 students received scholarships to study in Taiwan.
He said we are going to have more students studying in Taiwan, as there is a commitment to have more.
Some students may even get the opportunity to be attached to firms in Taiwan, after they complete their studies.
