Son Gets Five years For Criminal Assault On Mother

Brian Samuel a laborer who hails from Redemption Sharpes were on Friday May 5th, 2017 given a five years jail term on two separate charges of possession of a point 25 firearm and criminal assault on his mother Colita Williams on March 4th, 2017.

The sentence was handed down by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne after he was convicted for the offences.

The Court heard that on the date in question at about 1:45am Police Officers at the Criminal Investigation Department was summoned to Colita Samuel’s home at Redemption Sharpes after it was reported by her that her son came home highly intoxicated and proceeded to kick down her bedroom door which she and other children occupied.

It is reported that her son pointed the firearm at her and threatened to kill her. Before imposing sentencing the Chief Magistrate told Samuel that based on his criminal record he is not remorseful.
