St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Minister of Information, St. Clair Leacock has signaled potential access to NBC Radio for the opposition party, but with strict conditions emphasizing responsible communication.

Speaking on Boom 106.9 FM, Leacock drawing from his past experience as NBC’s chairman said similar opportunities were previously extended.

“I did give the opposition time on radio,” Leacock stated, “and that was only stopped when the privilege was abused. I don’t anticipate that today’s situation would prevent opposition access, but there must be maturity and respect in how that privilege is exercised.”

He stressed that while the government remains committed to democratic engagement, opposition members must demonstrate accountability when using the national broadcasting service.

Leacock made clear that access should not be considered automatic, but rather a conditional privilege contingent on responsible behavior.
