First Citizens Investment Services Limited have awarded Five students of the St. Vincent Grammar School for participating in an environmental conservation poster and essay competitions in collaboration with the school’s Environment Club.
Winner of the poster competition Mirac Creese received $1000 dollars while Cimalon Hamilton winner of the Upper School Essay competition received $300 dollars.
Rayshorn Dickson who received $150 won second place, while the third place winner Kareem Andrews walked away with $100.00.
In the Lower School category of the essay competition which targeted students of Forms 1 and 2, Stanislaus Gomes placed first and received the prize of $300, with second place going to Paul Clarke, who received $150.
Manager of First Citizens Investment Services Nolan Gabriel says the competitions were held as part of phase two of her agency’s CARE initiative of its corporate social responsibility program, which was undertaken to restore and enhance the roundabout area at the St. Vincent Grammar School.
Head of the Environmental Club, Mrs Leslyn Tucker-Baisden says the club is planning to undertake a project to erect a greenhouse at the school, it is also undertaking a Recycling paper project.
Winners were presented with Prizes on Tuesday at the school’s general assembly. The competitions were based on the theme “Cleaner Space Reducing Waste.”
