SVG To Host PAHO/WHO Meeting

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will on Monday May 16th host the PAHO/WHO Eastern Caribbean Countries (ECC) Ministers of Health and Senior Officials Meeting ahead of the 69th World Health General Assembly.

The main objective of the meeting is to provide a forum for the Ministers of Health and Senior Officials to prepare and coordinate their participation in the 69th World Health Assembly in Geneva from May 23rd- 28th, 2016.

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO.

It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board.

The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget.

The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

An opening ceremony will take place on Monday May 16th at 9:00 am, at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and Marina.
