Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has announced that this country is moving to establish a diplomatic mission in New Delhi, India’s capital.
Prime Minister Gonsalves made brief comments about it while speaking at a press conference at Cabinet Room on Tuesday about his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent official visit to India.
“We discussed the possibility of establishing a mission in New Delhi. We are looking at how we can keep it very cheap in early discussions. Because, paying the staff, an ambassador and minister/councilor is not really the big burden, it’s the cost of office space and housing. There’s a way in which we can address those,” he said.
The Prime Minister also said that this country’s High Commissioner to London, Cenio Lewis, signed the agreement addressing the matter of the exemption of a visa requirement in both of our countries for holders of diplomatic and official passports to facilitate the ease of doing business between the officials and diplomats rather than have to come to get visas.
