- UWI Global Campus praises cooperate sector/businesses for investing in employees
With the demand for well trained staff, The University of the West Indies Global Campus St. Vincent and the Grenadines (UWIGC) is responding to the needs of the workforce.
One of the ways that UWIGC has been ensuring that persons upgrade their academic qualifications, is through the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) short courses.
This gives applicants the opportunity to register for 18 courses in which they will be certified upon completion.
These courses are for about a year and upon graduation, persons will be certified in their area of study.
According to Acting Marketing Assistant Sheron Garraway, applicants seem to favor the CPE year-long courses, since it gets them back into the academic realm before pursuing a full 3-4 year degree.
Garraway revealed that the CPE courses will be done online, with the exception of about two courses which would be a combination of face-to-face and online.
She noted there have been several requests to extend the application date and the new deadline is now Friday March 8, 2024.
Garraway commended Vincentians for continually making strides to upgrade their academic qualifications which will ultimately improve their lives as skilled persons. She pointed out that over the years, more females have been registering than males, but highlighted that males have also been stepping up to garner knowledge.
The UWI Global Campus Acting Marketing Assistant also praised the various companies who have invested in their employees to do CPE courses.
She expounded, “Many companies and institutions realize that having well-trained staff is critical to the operational success of their establishment. It also increases customer satisfaction and work efficiency when staff develop the skill sets to competently function.”
CPE courses take 10 – 13 weeks to complete and are EC$ 600.00 per course.
Applicants are required to bring to the UWIGC office, their birth certificate, any form of photo ID, and copies of academic qualifications.
CPE courses are available the areas of: Introduction to Events Management, Foundations of Records Management, E-Commerce in Modern Business, Business Writing and Communication 1 & 2, Occupational Health and Safety, Managing People Effectively, Finance for Decision Makers, Managing Conflict in the Workplace, Managing Projects for Success, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Procurement Management, Introduction to Digital Marketing, Health Care Management, Introduction to Facilities Management, Introduction to Property and Real Estate Management, Advanced Counselling Skills: Working with the Adolescent, Public Relations Management and Care of the Elderly (Blended course: Face-to-face & online)
