Vincentian Moriba O’Garro are among a group of nine individuals who would journey to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle for the period 15th May to 23rd June 2017, on the Royal HouseHold Hospitality Scholarship.
Recipients of the prestigious Scholarship have the opportunity to work alongside the Master’s Department team within the Royal Kitchens, the front-of-house section, and housekeeping sections and live within the Royal Mews Buckingham Palace in staff accommodation.
During prince harry visit last year November to the region he announced that the Royal Household Hospitality Scholarship 2017 would offer nine hospitality placements, for Caribbean citizens to be trained at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
Mr O’Garro has served as a Restaurant and Housekeeping Supervisor at the Pink Sands Club, Canouan.
The Royal family’s website outlined that the duties of a Royal Household Scholars will include “catering in the royal kitchen, housekeeping and caring for artwork and furnishings and front-of-house duties such as greeting guests and serving food and drinks.”
The Royal Household Scholars project facilitates the advancement of recipient’s skills in their chosen area of expertise and could range from learning complex chocolate and sugar craft or shadowing the service team at official and private events during this busy period.
Other Caribbean countries benefiting from the scholarship includes Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis and St Lucia.
