With the spate of murders that took place in 2016 here in St Vincent, Vincentians may have another worry on their hand, this as the US have deported a number of aliens back to the island.
Some 240,255 aliens with criminal and non-criminal backgrounds were removed from the United States of America in 2016.
The Information was made public in the 2016 report from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE).
The report noted that of this number, 65 in total were deported back to the OECS and its associate countries.
Of that number, St Vincent and the Grenadines received a total of 13.
According to the report the number of removals overall increased by two percent over 2015, but a 24 percent decrease from FY 2014.
Other OECS countries are as follows;
Dominica 10, Grenada 10, St. Kitts-Nevis 9, Montserrat 2, Antigua -Barbuda 14, and St Lucia 15.
The associated states including the British Virgin Islands received 5, Anguilla 1. No data was available for Martinique.
Caribbean-wide, the Dominican Republic, received the highest amount with some 1,981, followed by Jamaica 787 and Trinidad and Tobago 128.
