Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has announced that there will be a 2 megawatts Solar System at the AIA, valued at 2 million dollars.
Gonsalves made this announcement during his 2017 Budget Presentation in Parliament on Monday.
He said that the project will be carried out by VINLEC, with funding through grants.
Gonsalves noted that over a year ago at a public signing ceremony, he signed with the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) a soft loan agreement of just over EC 2 million dollars to fund the first phase of the solar energy project at the AIA.
He further added that the initial phase of this project is for the installation of a 300 kilowatt Solar PV System.
