2026 budget authorises creation of over 100 jobs

The 2026 budget authorizes the creation of several dozen new positions to strengthen public service delivery:

• National Security: 66 new positions total. The police force receives 42 new posts, including a Deputy Commissioner and various ranks from inspector to constable, specifically to combat violent and gun-related crime. Nine posts were added to the Coast Guard and six to Immigration.

• Health and Wellness: 10 new positions, including four District Medical Officers to improve rural healthcare access. Mental health services are strengthened with a new Director and Deputy Hospital Administrator.

• Judiciary and Administration: 11 new positions in autonomous departments, including two Judicial Research Assistants and two posts for the Intellectual Property Unit.

• Social Development: 16 posts for the new Ministry of Family and Gender Affairs to staff its administrative and technical units.
