Former Prime Minister Sir James Mitchell says the NDP will lose in the long run on the issue of vaccination.

Sir James disclosure came following a question by Philbert John on the Issue at Hand program on WeFm on Sunday.

The former Prime Minister and Leader of the NDP said he had not discussed the party’s vaccination position with anyone.

“I have suggested that the party make an unambiguous statement that it wants 90 percent of the people vaccinated”.

“Drop the word mandated; that is my advice to the party”.

“We are all in this together, it is not a political issue, and if the party is not clear, we will lose out in the long run”.

Sir James said Prime Minister Gonsalves is not doing anything that the rest of the world is not doing.

“You look at what France is doing; you look at what Canada is doing, etc. We have to do all that we can to get people vaccinated.

Convince them, spend our energies convincing people to get vaccinated; any other thing for me is inadequate”.

Leader of the NDP Dr Godwin Friday says the party is not against vaccination as he is vaccinated; however, the party is against mandatory vaccination.
