More Vincentian Students Heading To Taiwan

An additional Twenty Vincentian students are heading to Taiwan after receiving Scholarships for the upcoming 2021 Academic year.

The students who are enrolled in several programs at various Taiwan Universities will study subject areas including Fashion, Engineering and Environmental Science.

The Presentation of the Scholarship certificates took place at the SVG Community College on October 1, 2021.

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Peter Sha-Li Lan, congratulated and welcomed the students to Taiwan.

Ambassador Sha-Li Lan said the MOFA and ICDF Taiwan Scholarships began in 2004 and as an initiative of Prime Minister Gonsalves. He said in the last 17 years, 223 Vincentian students have benefited from the two scholarship programmes.

Ambassador Sha-li Lan noted the continuing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic; however, he reassured students of his government’s commitment to facilitating their travel to Taiwan so they can begin their studies soonest.
