SVG Leading In Caribbean Ticket Sales For Virgin Atlantic

2 Min Read

St Vincent and the Grenadines is leading in ticket sales in the Caribbean for Virgin Atlantic. The airline made its inaugural flight to the island on Wednesday, 13th October 2021.

The announcement of ticket sales was made by the CEO of the Tourism Authority, Glen Beache.

Beache said SVG is leading in ticket sales in the Caribbean for Virgin Atlantic for the second half of October and December so far.

Virgin Atlantic will operate a twice-weekly service into St Vincent and the Grenadine on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The CEO disclosed that the negotiations with Virgin Atlantic had been ongoing for eight years.

“As much as we all think that St. Vincent and the Grenadines is the most beautiful country in the world, and I agree with that fully; airlines are not coming because of that, airlines are coming here to make money, if it’s not profitable for them, they will not do it”, Beache said.

At a short welcoming ceremony on Wednesday, Steve Moore, Resident British Commissioner, said he is delighted that this has happened, stating that a direct flight link between SVG and the UK can only help to make bilateral ties even more robust.

“It will also make life that little bit easier for British tourists, the SVG tourism industry, the Vincentian diaspora in the UK, the many Vincentians employed in the UK as nurses or with the British Armed Forces, and for me to be connected finally.”
