Kagame visits Jamaica to strengthen bilateral ties

The Rwandan president, His Excellency Paul Kagame, is on the second leg of a three-day State visit to Jamaica, which will include discussions aimed at deepening bilateral relations.

The President arrived in Jamaica on Wednesday (April 13) at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, where he was met by Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Patrick Allen; Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman.

The countries will discuss matters of state and potential opportunities for economic cooperation.

The President of Rwanda met with the Governor-General at King’s House this morning (April 14) and addressed the joint session of Parliament at Gordon House where he met with the Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding.

President Kagame and the Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks prior to his departure on Friday, April 15.

After the talks, the Prime Minister and President Kagame will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and deliver statements.

In November 1998, Jamaica and Rwanda established diplomatic relations.
