Vincentians have been asked to frequent the Botanical Gardens more in 2017.
The Botanical Gardens On the island of St Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere (preceded by Kew Gardens in London and Bartram’s Garden in Philadelphia) and perhaps the oldest in the tropical world.
The appeal to the general public came from Gordon Shallow, Curator of the Botanical Gardens, who highlighted that the gardens could be used for many different purposes.
The Botanic Gardens offer an attractive, alluring and peaceful retreat and are currently one of the most visited sites for visitors to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is a venue for weddings, photographing, family celebrations, studying and other special events
Shallow said while speaking on the national radio station (NBC) that they are offering many different packages for members of the public while noting that it is a great place to bring the entire family and build memories.
St Vincent Botanical Gardens is also home to the Nicholas Wildlife Aviary compound which maintains a captive breeding program to conserve the vulnerable Amazon guildingii, the National Bird.
