A public consultation was held on Wednesday 8th February, to discuss the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
An IRP is a utility plan for meeting present and future electricity demands in the most efficient and economical manner.
VINLEC, along with the government, have collaborated with the Rocky Mountain Institute Carbon War Room and the Clinton Climate Initiative to implement the IRP project.
An agreement to implement the project was signed in October 2016 by VINLEC CEO Thornely Myers, Director of Island Energy Programme Justin Lock and Director of the Energy Unit Elsworth Dacon.
Activities to be carried out under the project include data collection, data analysis, forecasting for electricity demand, examination of resources, selection of an optimal model.
The consultation was held at Frenches House, in Kingstown.
