St Vincent Opposition now embraces One China Policy

The leader of the Opposition NDP Arnhim Eustace in a press statement Tuesday morning announced, that the NDP is monitoring the ongoing geopolitical issues taking place across the globe which could affect the nation and the wider Caribbean.

Eustace said that with this in mind the NDP has taken the decision to accept the United Nations norm of a  “One China Policy”.

“In the case of the United States, the One-China Policy was first stated in the Shanghai Communiqué of 1972: “the United States acknowledges that Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait maintain there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of China. The United States does not challenge that position.”

when asked by a member of the media how St Vincent would benefit, Eustace said that he does not understand the question, and went on to state that most of the world have accepted the One China Policy.
