A marina with 24 SuperYacht berths opened in Canouan on Monday 10th April 2017. The project features 120 berths in total and is the first of its kind within the Caribbean.
By December, shops, cafes, and apartments are expected to be completed. Luxury villas will commence construction thereafter.
Speaking at the Opening of the marina, Elena Korach CEO glossy Bay Marina Limited said twenty years after Antonio Saladino imagined a Marina in the South of Canouan, and after many challenges and adventures, the potential and the meaning of this facility, not only for Canouan, but for our Country, becomes evident.

Korach noted that the initial feasibility studies for the construction of the Marina were extensive, in order to ensure that Glossy Bay provides a safe harbour, and preserves the natural beauty of the beach, arguably one of the best in the Caribbean.
“Wave agitation and sediment transportation, as well as water exchange models, were developed by the University of Bologna, and formed the base for a detailed impact assessment study”.
The state of the art infrastructural network includes a prime and a standby power plant, a wastewater treatment plant connected to vacuum pumping facilities on the docks, a fueling system for boats with dockside fueling hydrants as well as a fueling station.

The CEO said that over the two years, “the project employed hundreds of workers, with peaks of 700 tradesmen on site, 95% of which Vincentian. The contribution to the Canouan economy has been also significant with the rentals alone amounting to a monthly bill of 130,000 XCD per month”.
To date, over 250 million XCD were disbursed towards the fulfilment of the Project, and Glossy Bay Marina Limited is planning to spend over a hundred more to complete the Marina Plaza.
