The search for the six persons who mysteriously disappeared on their way back to Mustique from Canouan in the Northern Grenadines on June 4th, 2017, has been officially suspended.
The announcement came from PM Gonsalves while speaking in parliament on Tuesday 13th June.
The Search involved SVG Police, The Regional Security System C26 aircraft and Curacao Authorities who at the latter part of the search concentrated their efforts in the Eastern area of the search.
Local private sector entities including the Mustique Company also assisted with marine efforts and aircraft while Mr Kelly Glass aided the search with his private aircraft.
Gonsalves said that he spoke with the leader of the Opposition and the Speaker of the House who both agreed with him, that it would be best to postponed parliament until Tuesday’s sitting.
Gonsalves said the situation had caused him immense pain and anguish, and at times like these words don’t adequately express how one feels.
The Prime Minister told members of parliament that a Pal hangs over Tuesday’s sitting, but life goes on.
“ We live in hope and thank all those who were involved in the search thus far, the suspension by the police and Coast Guard does not mean they are not still on the look out”.
The boat was captained by 56-year-old Montgomery Hazel, and the other passengers were named as Claudia Williams, 43, Ned Da Souza, 43, and his wife, 39-year-old Charmaine Da Souza, Sheron Simmons, 44, and Josianne John, whose age was not disclosed.
