The opposition NDP is demanding answers from the St Vincent government following Vybz Kartel’s revelation on the “Drink Champ Podcast” about his private plane flight to St Vincent in August 2024.

Kartel on the Podcast said, “I went to St. Vincent, I went to visit the Prime Minister…He sent for me… private jet and everything.”

The Jamaican dancehall icon spent several days in St. Vincent following his release from incarceration. Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, revealed that his visit to SVG was primarily for medical reasons. While in SVG, he stated that he had been receiving treatment for Graves’ disease from a Cuban endocrinologist and other specialists in SVG.

On the “Drinks Champ Podcast,” Kartel also disclosed something that may have not been known to too many Vincentians.

“9 out of 10 doctors in Jamaica are Cubans, because, you know, they do good medicine, right?”.

The opposition in a Facebook post stated that they are demanding full disclosure from the government.

On Sunday, a video that showed Vybz Kartel apparently walking back what he said on the ‘Drink Champs Podcast’ appeared on a Facebook page named Ralph Gonsalves.

“Me dey ah London, but just to clarify something that was said on Drinks Champs just the other day when I said the St. Vincent Prime Minister sent for me, yes I was invited to the island by the boss himself, but I paid for my own jet, because I am rich, so if anybody misinterprets what I said, my apologies.”

 The government in 2024 said:

“The St. Vincent government is not spending any money to facilitate Vybz Kartel’s visit to the island to consult about his medical condition (Graves disease).”
