Vincentian Maxton Scotland Appointed Co-Chair of UNDPI/NGO Committee

Vincentian born Mr. Maxton Scotland is the Youth Co-Chair of the United Nations Department of Public Information and Non-Governmental Organization (UNDPI/NGO) Committee.

 From a global list of nominees, he was appointed and to date has successfully chaired the Intergenerational Dialogues on the Sustainable Development Goals. A collaborative event between the UN DPI executive committee and the DPI NGO was held on 1 August 2017 in New York.

This event was attended by members of Civil Society and Member States of the United Nations. Over one thousand persons represented Civil society and member states from across the globe. Maxton was the Youth Co-Chair for this highly interactive assembly.

From the feedback received, the participants expressed a high level of satisfaction throughout and all made their commitments to achieve the 2030 agenda.

Maxton will serve again in the capacity as the Secretary General for the Fifth Edition of the Rotaract Global Model United Nations (MUN) conference. This will be held for the first time in the Middle East in Beirut, Lebanon from 17- 20 August 2017.

The MUN is a simulation of the United Nations in which students and young professionals debate contemporary international issues.

Maxton is an ex-Military personnel who hails from a former colony of Great Britain, the West Indian island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

He has considerable training and knowledge of world issues that are consolidated with a British educational background.
