Prime Minister Godwin Friday has not yet moved into the official prime minister’s residence, noting that it is currently not in a condition to be used.
He expressed surprise at the building’s state of deterioration, especially considering the significant amount of money reportedly spent on it over the years.
Friday said the building requires “quite a bit of work” and modernization.
The Prime Minister has requested that BRAGSA perform an assessment to determine the necessary repairs. He described the interior as having a “mismatch of things” that need updating.
“The building itself needs work, the grounds are in “fabulous condition” and we want it to remain that way”.
Friday emphasized that the residence is “the people’s place” and that he is only using it temporarily as the elected leader. He expressed a desire for the residence to be accessible, suggesting that if citizens come to meet him, they should be able to sit and talk in the living room.
