St Vincent’s Prime Minister Godwin Friday on Tuesday stated that his son Nicholas Friday is not on the public payroll.
Friday’s son, Nicholas, currently serves as his personal assistant and aid. Friday describes him as extremely capable, organized, and someone he can trust implicitly.
The Prime Minister, However, explicitly clarified that Nicholas is not on the public payroll and that his work is a personal arrangement, addressing public perceptions regarding a “family affair” in governance.
Speaking to his family life, Friday noted that his wife still attempts to treat him like a “normal” husband, even trying to send him to the grocery store. However, he has had to explain that he can no longer just “stop off” at stores as he used to due to the security and public attention that comes with being Prime Minister.
Despite his public role, Friday emphasized that he has always been private with his family. He shared that his family “signed up” for the public life when they agreed he could run for office, but he still cherishes simple domestic tasks, such as bathing his dog, to keep his life grounded.
While Friday is now the captain of the national ship, he views his home life as his safe harbor, where he can step out of his official role and return to the simple responsibilities of being a husband, and father.
