In a 2026 press statement, the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) outlined its strategic roadmap for modernizing regional education and supporting students through crises.

Registrar Dr. Wayne Wesley announced a significant shift toward on-screen e-assessments, with plans to digitize all examinations within the next few years.

The council also introduced a specific Disaster and Business Recovery Protocol to assist Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa, offering flexible submission deadlines and registration waivers.

Beyond disaster relief, the organization is focusing on educational inclusion by aligning with international treaties to better serve visually impaired learners.

New literacy and numeracy standards were also unveiled alongside the successful pilot of the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate.

CXC says these initiatives reflect a commitment to maintaining globally recognized certification while adapting to the evolving needs of Caribbean learners.
