(Toronto) An Air Canada flight departing from Toronto was recently forced to abort its takeoff after passengers heard desperate screams and banging emanating from beneath the cabin floor.

The commotion was caused by a ground crew member who had become trapped inside the cargo hold after the doors were accidentally sealed.

Passengers reported a scene of confusion as flight attendants scrambled to address the noise while the aircraft returned to the terminal.

Although the baggage handler was rescued without sustaining any physical injuries, the airline ultimately decided to cancel the flight to Moncton.

Following the incident, Air Canada confirmed they are updating their safety protocols to prevent similar ground crew errors in the future.
