SVG launches soil health project with intl. partners

The Ministry of Agriculture in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, alongside the IICA and New Zealand, has launched a project to enhance soil health and climate resilience.

This initiative targets farmers in District Eight to encourage the adoption of sustainable farming techniques that lower greenhouse gas emissions while boosting crop output.

The program includes scientific soil analysis, training for agricultural workers, and the creation of demonstration plots at sites like Langley Park and Orange Hill.

By establishing a baseline for emissions, the project aims to help government agencies better understand and manage environmental impacts.

Technical experts recently conducted field visits to coordinate these efforts with local stakeholders and finalize the designs for the educational sites.

The mission focuses on securing the region’s agricultural future through practical education and improved land management.
