Playaz Youth Academy is pleased to announce the launch of its Basketball Summer Camp 2026, a two-week youth development programme using basketball, mentorship and life skills sessions to positively impact young people.
The camp will run from 27th July to 7th August 2026, Monday to Friday, at the Lowmans Leeward Hard Court, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily. It is open to boys and girls ages 5 and over. The registration fee is $100, with transportation and refreshments provided for registered participants.
Over the years, the Summer Camp has gone beyond basketball by including educational sessions that speak directly to issues affecting young people.
Past sessions have featured topics such as STD awareness in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, conflict resolution and anger management with the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, Life Behind Bars with His Majesty’s Prisons, bullying awareness with Dr. Jozelle Miller, and financial literacy for youth with support from financial institutions such as GECCU Ltd., St. Vincent Co-operative Bank, TCCU and others.
For 2026, the Academy intends to build on this foundation with new speakers, expanded development sessions and a continued focus on helping young people make positive choices. President of Playaz Youth Academy, Mr. Orlando Fergusson, said the camp remains an important part of the Academy’s mission.
“Through this camp, we are not only teaching basketball. We are creating a space where young people can learn discipline, build confidence, develop respect for others and be guided in a positive direction,” Mr. Fergusson said.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register early, as spaces are limited.
