The George Stephens Secondary School (GSSS) recently marked a milestone in its 20th-anniversary celebrations by hosting a dynamic Career Day Fair on Friday, June 5, 2026. The event drew students from various primary and secondary schools across the North Windward constituency.
The fair brought together a diverse group of educators, professionals, and representatives from both the private and public sectors, as well as religious organizations. Notably, many of the participating professionals were alumni of GSSS, returning to inspire and guide current students as they navigate their future career options.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to interact face-to-face with experts from a wide range of fields, including healthcare, education, finance, law enforcement, hospitality, technology, entrepreneurship, and public service.
During these interactions, students enthusiastically asked questions regarding educational requirements, workplace expectations, and potential avenues for industry growth. The engaging experience provided students with a clearer understanding of potential career trajectories and the necessary steps to achieve their professional goals, with many describing the fair as highly motivating.
Industry representatives utilized the platform to stress the value of early career exploration, encouraging the youth to cultivate strong work ethics, maintain focus on their studies, and embrace lifelong learning.
The event underscored the critical role of collaboration between schools, government agencies, businesses, and community organizations in preparing the next generation for the workforce and bolstering national development. GSSS Principal Calvin Providence concluded the successful event by expressing his gratitude to the participating organizations and professionals for their dedication to youth development and career education.
