Aircraft missing on flight from St Vincent to Tobago
Search and rescue operations are currently underway for a twin-engine light aircraft that disappeared during a flight from St. Vincent to Tobago, leaving two people unaccounted for.
According to a June 15 press release from the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, the aircraft—a Dominican Republic-registered Beechcraft Baron B58T with the registration number HI1145—departed from Argyle International Airport on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:52 a.m. local time.
The plane was carrying two people and was scheduled to land at the A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Tobago after a filed flight time of one hour and five minutes.
Initially, the flight proceeded without incident. The crew maintained normal radio contact with Argyle Air Traffic Control as the plane traveled south. A standard transfer of communications was completed when the Beechcraft reached a position 40 nautical miles south of Argyle International Airport, which marks the southern boundary of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ controlled airspace.
Tragically, all radio contact with the aircraft was lost following this communication transfer. When the plane subsequently failed to arrive at its destination in Tobago, authorities issued an alert and officially initiated a distress phase.
The Civil Aviation Department has confirmed that active search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing aircraft and its occupants.
“The Ministry takes this opportunity to offer our commitment in ensuring the safe and secure operations of flights within our airspace,” the official statement read, noting that further updates will be disseminated as they are received.
