Go Grenadines campaign to stimulate domestic travel

In a targeted effort to maintain a vibrant tourism sector outside of the traditional high season, Minister of Tourism Dr. Kishore Shallow has officially unveiled the “Go Grenadines” campaign. The month-long promotional initiative is specifically designed to drive domestic tourism and stimulate the local economy during the low-peak month of August.

At the center of this new initiative is the introduction of the “Go Grenadines Passport,” a creative concept developed by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority. Valued at $100, the passport functions as a voucher that individuals can use across the Grenadines at participating, tourism-approved service providers. The program encourages locals and targeted regional travelers to increase bookings for accommodations, dining, excursions, and local cultural experiences.

The Tourism Authority is curating specific, value-driven packages tailored to different islands within the archipelago. Travelers will be able to utilize their vouchers on programs such as “Rediscover Bequia” and an “Adventure in Canouan,” with extensive participation also expected from hotels, restaurants, and tour operators on Union Island and Mayreau. Chairperson of the Tourism Authority, Shelley-Ann Fraser, noted that this initiative perfectly complements the recent “One Fest” event in Canouan, working to elevate the profile of the Grenadines and showcase the unique experiences across its 32 islands and cays.

“Go Grenadines is an initiative that we are affording Vincentians to enjoy our own paradise,” stated Minister Shallow. However, the campaign is not exclusively for locals; regional tourists who are visiting the mainland during August—such as cricket fans arriving for the CPL—will also have the opportunity to access the passports, provided they do not sell out first.

The Ministry expects to issue a limited supply of approximately 1,000 passports. Full details on how the public can access and distribute these passports will be released immediately following the conclusion of the Carnival season.

The execution of the campaign is being led by Ana Brown of the Tourism Authority, who has been actively engaging with critical stakeholders and service providers in the Grenadines to ensure a robust lineup of participants. Promotional graphics and information are currently being broadcasted and published on the Tourism Authority’s website.

For Vincentians residing on the mainland who may be wondering about their regions, Minister Shallow assured the public that additional campaigns, tentatively dubbed “Go Windward” and “Go Leeward,” are also in the pipeline for the future.

Individuals seeking more information regarding the campaign are encouraged to reach out to the Tourism Authority directly via the dedicated email address: [email protected].
