As the 2026 hurricane season continues, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has officially released its comprehensive list of emergency shelters to ensure the nation “gets ready” for potential weather threats.

The 2026 list identifies dozens of facilities, including schools, churches, and community centers, strategically located throughout every district.

  • North Windward: Residents in the northernmost areas can access facilities such as the Fancy Government School, Owia Government School (New Wing), and the Dickson Methodist School.
  • Central Regions: In North Central Windward, sites include the Georgetown Secondary School and the South Rivers Learning Resource Center. South Central Windward residents are served by locations like the Greiggs Government School and Lauders Primary School.
  • St. George and Kingstown: The capital and surrounding areas have extensive coverage, featuring the Sion Hill Government School, Kingstown Government School (Stoney Ground), and the Brighton Government School in East St. George.
  • Leeward Coast: Facilities span from the Lowmans Leeward Anglican Primary School in the south to the Fitz Hughes Government School and Troumaca Ontario Secondary School in North Leeward.
  • The Grenadines: The islands are well-equipped, with the Bequia Anglican Primary School and Mustique Primary School serving the Northern Grenadines, while the Canouan Government School and Union Island Secondary School provide critical shelter in the Southern Grenadines.

NEMO emphasizes that being prepared is a collective responsibility. Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the nearest shelter in their community before an emergency occurs.
