SVG,New Zealand reaffirm bilateral ties

On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Honourable Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Linda Te Puni, the High Commissioner of New Zealand. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, provided a platform for constructive dialogue on several issues of mutual interest to both nations.

During the discussion, High Commissioner Te Puni briefed Minister Bramble on various development projects currently being implemented across the Caribbean region, funded by the Government of New Zealand. A key highlight of the briefing was New Zealand’s continued support for renewable energy initiatives specifically within Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Minister Bramble expressed his sincere appreciation to the government and people of New Zealand for their ongoing support to both the nation and the wider Caribbean. He acknowledged New Zealand’s longstanding partnership with the region, which is facilitated through formal cooperation agreements with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The Foreign Minister was accompanied during the meeting by Mrs. Sandy Peters-Phillips, Permanent Secretary, and Mrs. Charmin Tapin-John, Director of Foreign Policy. Following the talks, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening the cordial bilateral relationship between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and New Zealand, emphasizing a shared desire for continued collaboration in the future.
