SVG records its 23rd murder for 2026

The homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has reached 23 for the year following the killing of Sandre Matthias.

Police have launched an investigation into the latest incident, which involved the fatal shooting of the 35-year-old vendor, in Glen.

Authorities received reports of the shooting at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026. Matthias was reportedly shot by an unknown assailant and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, where he was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

As investigations remain ongoing, police are urging anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Department, the Major Crime Unit, Police Control, or any local police station.

Officials have stated that all information received will be treated with confidentiality
