The National Centre for Technological Innovation (NCTI) has officially launched its Business and Technology Leadership Programme to provide more than 100 young entrepreneurs, aspiring owners, and students with intensive training in leadership and digital skills. The initiative began on July 9, 2026, at the Frenches House Conference Room in Kingstown as part of an effort to support small businesses through ICT training and mentorship.

According to Petrus Gumbs, Chief Executive Officer of NCTI, this Elevate Programme focuses on industry-relevant skills such as artificial intelligence, QuickBooks certification, advanced Microsoft Excel, and social media advertising.

The programme currently hosts 112 participants who are receiving training valued at approximately EC$1,500 at no cost to themselves. Gumbs encouraged the attendees to prioritize learning and adaptability, noting that these qualities are vital for success in the evolving digital economy. He also urged participants to think innovatively so that local concepts can grow into globally competitive businesses.

Chief Education Officer Marvis Findlay-Joseph, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information, commended the participants for investing in their own development. She emphasized the importance of a strong work ethic and collaboration while highlighting how artificial intelligence is currently transforming the landscapes of education and entrepreneurship.

One participant, Ferrique Shortte of Union Food Processing, shared that the training has already improved his ability to use digital tools for business branding and planning. Shortte noted that artificial intelligence platforms like Gemini and ChatGPT are particularly helpful for preparing grant proposals and managing daily operations.

Over the course of the three-week programme, participants will continue to receive hands-on instruction designed to help them manage and grow successful enterprises. The initiative represents NCTI’s commitment to building a digitally skilled and entrepreneurial workforce to drive national development in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
