Governor-General His Excellency Stanley Kendrick John, KC, formally endorsed a national historical learning initiative following a visit from a University of the West Indies educational delegation. The meeting took place at Government House on Saturday, July 11, 2026, as part of the Constant Carmichael Study Tour involving students from the Cave Hill Campus.

His Excellency highlighted the importance of Government House facilitating this project, noting that visiting historical sites is a vital method for bringing history to life for students and the general public. He stated that firsthand experience with historic locations and artifacts is among the most effective ways to deepen an understanding of the rich history and cultural heritage of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The initiative aims to enrich the learning experiences of students while raising public awareness regarding the nation’s historical legacy. The Governor-General expressed his hope that the research and materials gathered through this project would provide valuable insights into a significant chapter of the country’s historical development and foster a greater appreciation for its heritage.

Before the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency thanked Dr. Cleve Scott, the Co-Investigator of the Constant Carmichael Project, along with the participating students. He offered his best wishes for the success of their ongoing research efforts.
