Bailey Rejects Political Denials
St Vincent Deputy Commissioner of police Trevor ‘Buju’ Bailey has reaffirmed his assessment that the nation is plagued by gangs, despite previous denials from the political establishment.
Speaking on the voices radio program, bailey addressed his earlier public pronouncements regarding gang activity, which the host noted had not been well-received by some politicians who claimed gangs did not exist.
When asked directly about the presence of these groups, bailey confirmed that St. Vincent does indeed have gangs.
Bailey specifically referenced a recent triple homicide in kingstown, noting that the incident bore a resemblance to gang activity.
He revealed that police intelligence has identified affiliations among those involved and that the investigation is moving in a specific direction. bailey vowed that this particular crime would not go unpunished.
Regarding the broader fight against organized crime, Bailey emphasized that the police are not prepared to surrender any territory to criminal elements.
He stated that law enforcement will not yield a single inch of territory to any criminal or gang. He also advocated for a unified national response, involving agencies like the customs and port authority to stop the importation of the illegal firearms that facilitate these crimes.
