Minister of Transport Nigel Stephenson has announced that the national summer road cleaning program is scheduled to begin on August 3rd.
In a recent Facebook update, the Minister provided specific instructions for both returning workers and new applicants interested in participating in the upcoming maintenance cycle.
For those who participated in the program’s previous session, Minister Stephenson indicated that all teams (gangs) working for the first time last session are invited to continue their work in the same locations.
New applicants within the South Leeward constituency are required to register in person to be considered for the program.
Registration will take place at the constituency office in Campden Park on Wednesday and Thursday during a strict window from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Officials have emphasized that no applications will be accepted once this registration period concludes.
The recruitment drive is not limited to manual labor; the Minister has also extended an invitation to truck owners. Individuals with vehicles who are interested in transporting materials off the roads are encouraged to attend the registration session to offer their services.
While Minister Stephenson has outlined these plans via social media, it is important to note that BRAGSA, the official entity typically responsible for road cleaning operations, has not yet made a formal announcement regarding the program.
This suggests that while the recruitment process is moving forward at the constituency level, official administrative confirmation from the central authority is still pending.
