Local authorities have officially launched a homicide investigation into the latest killing in St. Vincent, which has brought the national murder toll to 31.
The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is currently investigating a shooting incident in Rockies that occurred on August 6, 2026, that resulted in the death of Akeem Ferdinand, a 30-year-old Labourer of Rockies.
At approximately 8:05 pm, police responded to reports of multiple gunshots in Rockies. Upon arrival at the scene, police met the 30-year-old laborer with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds about his body. A medical practitioner subsequently attended the scene and pronounced him dead.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
